DIY Face Mask
There are many items in your home right now you could use as a face mask depending what effect you are looking for, skin sensitivity and skin type. This is my favorite all around mask.
Clay Mask
Mix immediately before use and apply as you normally would for a store bought face mask. Use once per week.
4 tbsps. bentonite clay
2 tbsps. french green clay
1 tbsp. ground oatmeal
1 – 2 tbsps. Milk Kefir
I find it is easiest to put ingredients in a ziplock bag, and mush it around until combined. Otherwise, use glass or plastic containers and utensils when working with bentonite clay.
With clean fingers, apply a thin layer to washed face and neck, avoiding eye area.
Leave on 15 minutes and gently remove with a wet wash cloth. (Mask does not need to fully dry like a traditional mask, 15 minutes is all that’s needed.)
Gently pat skin to dry and apply moisturiser.
The clays will draw out impurities and toxins, and may leave your face a little red for a few hours after use. I use this in the evening and all signs of redness are long gone by morning.
Ground oatmeal acts as an exfoliant to help slough off dead skin cells.
Milk kefir has antibacterial properties and will leave your skin amazingly smooth and soft. It could be replaced using milk or water.
