This makes breakfast so simple. I am normally up around 4:30 am, but my brain prefers to keep things simple until at least sunrise:P.

If I use (plain unflavored) quick oats, I mix this to soak for about 2 hours (just about the right time for my body to agree on eating in the morning), or if I use steel cut or rolled oats this can be left for an overnight soak.

Either way it makes a satisfying and nourishing breakfast. Oatmeal is one of the best breakfast foods healthwise, and will keep you feeling full for some time throughout the morning.

With this breakfast you’re not only getting all the health benefits of oatmeal, but another way to boost your probiotic (milk kefir) and prebiotic (honey) intake.

But equally as important – it just tastes good!!!

This time I used raisins, vanilla extract, and banana; but there is tons of room for variation!

Try changing it up with coconut with lime, apple slices with walnut, blueberries and a teaspoon of lemon or ACV, peach with almond extract or slices, the flavor combinations are endless…

Ingredients

  • 1 cup prepared milk kefir (grains removed)
  • 1/2 cup quick oats (unflavored)
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/3 rd. of a banana, sliced (adjust to your tastes)
  • 20 - 30 raisins
  • 1 tsp. - 1 tbsp. honey
  • pinch of cinnamon

Method

Step 1

Add oats and fruit slices to a mason jar.

Step 2

Mix the milk kefir, extract and honey together before stirring it into the oat mixture.

Step 3

Stir to blend. Cover and leave on countertop or in fridge for 2 hours if using quick oats. For steel cut or rolled oats, allow to soak 8 hours.

Step 4

Serve. Enjoy!
