This sourdough is a family favorite.

Try this recipe to make 2 loaves in round pans, cut a lid from the top, hollow it out and fill it with spinach dip. Place the insides surrounding it on a serving platter for dipping. Instant hit!

You’ll notice in the pictures I’ve used the same recipe to make 1 very (VERY lol) large loaf, 2 loaves and 3 loaves. Personally I prefer 2 with this recipe.

That VERY large loaf, by the way, was baked in a 9 inch springform pan, just to give you an idea of how big that sucker is!!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 6 cups flour
  • 3 cups room temperature water
  • 2 tsp salt

Method

Step 1

Mix 2 cups water & sourdough starter.

Step 2

Add 3 cups of flour, 1 cup at a time.

Step 3

Add remaining water and salt.

Step 4

Stir in remaining flour.

Step 5

Cover and leave on counter to rise 12 - 15 hours.

Step 6

Sprinkle the top with flour and fold dough to degas.

Step 7

Grease pans and divide dough. Cover and let rise 2 - 5 hours.

Step 8

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place an extra bread pan (or another oven safe pan) that is about 1/3 - 1/2 full of water in oven. Use enough water that the it won't all evaporate.

Step 9

Bake bread for 30 minutes. Remove the water pan from oven, and bake bread another 15 minutes.
