Just try ’em! The pecans make them a little pricey where I live, but I make them as a Christmas treat which seems like a good excuse!
Ingredients
- Crust:
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/3 cup butter, room temperature
- Layer 1:
- 1 1/4 cup pecan halves
- 2 tsp. salt
- Layer 2:
- 2/3 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- Topping:
- 1 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Method
Step 1
Crust: Mix flour, sugar and butter together well. Press into an ungreased 9 x 9 baking dish.
Step 2
Layer 1: Sprinkle crust with an even layer of the salt and pecan halves. Put aside.
Step 3
Layer 2: In medium pot, melt butter and stir in brown sugar. Heat until boiling. Cook for 3 minutes and remove from heat. Pour over pecans and crust.
Step 4
Bake at 350 F for 15 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
Step 5
Topping: Sprinkle chocolate chips over evenly while still hot. Allow to soften for 2 minutes, then use back of spoon to spread evenly. Sprinkle with chopped pecans.
Step 6
Let cool 2 hours. Cut into bars.
