Tortilla Chips
Not naming names, but a certain someone in this house loves his tortilla chips…ahem. If you’ve ever read the ingredients list on the store bought chips, you may understand why I’d prefer to make homemade.
The tortilla chips you can buy in the store are generally LOADED with sodium. The homemade version of tortillas are much healthier, easy to make using only a few ingredients, and make great chips in only a few minutes.
You can season them according to your tastes, this time I used pepper, curry, onion powder, and garlic powder.
One benefit to making your own chips is creating any flavor combination you want!
You could use tomato powder, parmesan, rosemary, oregano and basil for a pizza flavored chip, powdered dill for pickled flavor, or cinnamon and sugar for a sweet tooth.
Butter the top of a tortilla lightly so the seasonings will stick, then sprinkle with seasonings.
Stack another tortilla and repeat. Don’t season the top one because now you’re going to cut them into chips and it’s less messy if there is no butter on top.
Space the chips out on a baking sheet or two and place on middle rack of the oven set to broil.
After 3 – 4 minutes, remove from the oven and flip your chips. Broil 1 – 2 minutes. Pay attention, it can go from perfect chips to charcoal very quickly!!
Eat them plain or serve tortilla chips with guacamole, salsa, and sour cream. YUM!!!
Have you made tortilla chips? What flavorings did you use??

I’ve never made my own tortilla chips but I,know it can be really easy and now I see that too! I’ve only seen it made with corn tortillas, I like flour better I think because,of,the size!

I really like tortillas, and I do concede that they can be extremely salty — which I love –but I also recognize that that isn’t necessarily the best thing for my health. Thank you for a healthier option! I do appreciate it. :)
